President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bachassured this Friday that to talk about the participation or non-participation of Russia in Olympics 2024 in Paris.
Bach made these statements at a meeting with international media on the second day of his working visit to Havana, Cuba, and when asked about a possible boycott of Russia for its invasion of Ukraine, the German said.
I want to make it clear: the time to talk about the Olympic Games in Paris has not yet come. It is too early to talk about any boycott.
The IOC President explained that they are currently conducting consultations with the Olympic Committees of all countries and with various sports federations to “think everything over” the position of Russian and Belarusian athletes in international competitions in the coming months.
Once these consultations are completed, he added, the IOC will propose “recommendation”.

The IOC President also mentioned Cuba’s Olympic role and said he was “very happy” and “impressed” after visiting the main sports facilities in Havana.
The visit, which began this Thursday, allowed him to “learn about the preparations for the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024 and Los Angeles in 2028” and meet with representatives of the Cuban government.
Cuba, he said, is an “important country” for sports because of the Olympic medals it has won. “Cubans can be very proud of their great successes”he assured.
