El Metropolitano, the first stadium in Colombia to offer a VIP experience

At the pinnacle of major sporting venues worldwide, the Roberto Melendez Metropolitan Stadiumwhich will become the first sports venue in Colombia with hospitality, a new concept of experience and comfort that fans can enjoy with special services related to football activities.

That’s how they confirmed it Ramon Jesurun Francopresident of the Colombian Football Federation, and the mayor Jaime Pumarejo Heins during a tour of the works in progress in the ‘Colossus’ of the Ciudadela 20 de Julio.

This service consists of offering a VIP experience for fans who want to socialize before the matches in a comfortable place during the first half and at the end of the match, in rooms equipped with a television, air conditioning. It’s about adding extra comfort to a section of the audience. “Barranquilla would be the first stadium in Colombia to have it,” confirmed Jesurún.

The manager was very pleased with the works of the museum of the Colombian national team, which will be located next to the mixed zone so that visitors can enter when there are no matches: “An idea that makes us really happy, is that of finally landing and being able to provide a museum of the Colombian national team to the country, and so the mayor has offered us some very important spaces at the Metropolitan Stadium to be able to carry out what we always consider a considered dream”.

On this last point, the mayor Pumarejo explained that with the collection made to each of the boxes, some resources have been obtained. “We have managed to get back money that we are going to invest in, first of all improve the fan experience adding bathrooms at each of the locations. In addition, we’ve already allocated significant resources for what will become the stadium’s museum, which is to say, we have a space, but the Federation is going to supplement it with a lot of things that they already have, and we’ll be able to build that museum. that reminds of the Colombian national team”.

The president concluded that, in this way, “the home of the Colombian national team it continues to prepare to welcome our great athletes”.

In recent days, Mayor Pumarejo Heins inspected the progress of the intervention works in the sports arena, which are being carried out with funds from the box renovation collection and which initially consist of the construction of 40 urinals and 28 sanitary batteries in the grandstand west layer. Subsequently, the toilets will be built in the remaining stands – 8 in total – in addition to locative improvements in the stadium.

These interventions contribute to the adequacy of the grass, improvements in lightingsound, dressing rooms and mixed zone, among other adjustments recently made to the stadium.
