Cardiff City host Championship rivals Bristol City this afternoon as Sabri Lamouche’s side look to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat at Norwich.
Fans can be forgiven for dreading tonight’s Severnside derby after Cardiff have lost all of their last six derby games against Bristol City and Swansea City. In fact, due to coronavirus restrictions, Bluebirds fans haven’t seen their team beat any of their rivals since February 2018.
After Saturday’s defeat at Carrow Road, Lamouchi urged his batsman to improve, describing them as “the worst attack in the league” with just five goals in nine games since the start of the year. With Cardiff now hanging dangerously four points above the relegation zone, they need to find a target again and fast.
However, today they face a tough away test, whose run of 12 games unbeaten in all competitions was broken midweek by Premier League champions Manchester City, who knocked the Robins out of the FA Cup fifth round with a 3 x 1 :0 victory. But Nigel Pearson urged his team to play in style and promised an aggressive and spirited performance at the Cardiff City Stadium.
It’s sure to be an exciting competition, so stay tuned live for the latest team news and events before the start.

Lamushi: We know how important today is.
Bluebirds coach Sabri Lamouchi spoke of the importance of tonight’s derby, saying he wants his team to give fans something to be proud of.
On today’s programme, he told the fans: “We have a lot of work to do in the next 12 games and every point counts towards our objective, but we also realize that it is a derby.
“Today my players will have a clear understanding of what the crest on their shirts means in a match like this and how important it is to give everyone something to be proud of.”
He also said his team were “learning from experience” from last weekend, when they lost 2-0 to Norwich at Carrow Road, conceding twice in less than five minutes.
