Barcelona FC and Sergi Roberto have agreed to extend the versatile Barca player’s contract until June 30, 2024, as announced by the Catalan club on Friday.
Roberto, who is completing his seventeenth season with the Barca club since joining La Masia from Nastic de Tarragona in 2006, will continue for another year. The termination clause for the footballer, who just turned 31, is 400 million euros.
Catalan has amassed 339 appearances with the first team. As a center or winger, he is one of the captains and a key player in the Barsa resort.
The extension for one more season came about at the express request of the coach, Xavi Hernández, who has stated several times that he sees in Sergi Roberto an example of ethics, work and dedication to the younger players in the squad.
