The team of Evo Morales makes its debut in the Copa Sudamericana

The Bolivian teams Blooming and Palmaflor, whose president is the country’s former president Evo Morales, will compete this Thursday in a unique duel for the Copa Sudamericana at the Ramón ‘Tahuichi’ Aguilera stadium in Santa Cruz.

Blooming will be local and will have their fans in their favor in the match which will be played from 6pm local time and will be refereed by Ecuadorian Judge Augusto Aragón.

The Santa Cruz team already has experience in the continental competition with eight participations, the last in 2020, while Palmaflor will be presented for the third time in a row since its premiere in 2021.

‘La Academia’, as Blooming is called, will be beaten in the weekend with 5-0 at home due to Bolívar de La Paz, which placed the team in the penultimate box of the Professional classification Bolivia with 1 point after five disputed dates.

Argentina’s Caros Bustos took over the reins of the team two weeks ago, replacing Brazil’s Thiago Leitao, but his arrival has not yet had the necessary effect to lift the team.

Blooming added Uruguayan defender Jonathan Lacerda and Venezuelan midfielder Arquímides Figueroa as reinforcements for the Copa Sudamericana, as well as Bolivian Juan Carlos Conejo’ Arce.

For its part, Palmaflor comes to the game with the taste of a fresh 1-2 victory against Oriente Petrolero, on the field where the Copa Sudamericana match will be played next Thursday.

The Cochabamba squad will present former Boca Juniors Oscar Benítez as its main reference in attack, which the leaders only presented as reinforcements for the international tournament.

The Argentinian Matías Pisano and the Bolivian striker Gilbert Álvarez are also referees.

This year, the Palmaflor has had a change of management, since former Bolivian president Evo Morales took over the management of the institution.

During this process, the team from the town of Vinto in Cochabamba represented the coca-growing region of that same department and played their home matches at the Bicentenario Stadium in the town of Villa Tunari.
