Barranquilla’s Donovan Solano drove in one of the runs that helped the Minnesota Twins beat the Kansas City Royals 2-0 at Kauffman Stadium on the Major League’s Opening Day yesterday.
Solano came in as a pinch hitter in the top of the sixth inning and drove in the second run of the game with a drive between third baseman and shortstop.
His unstoppable move brought Trevor Larnach to the plate, who had pushed up Byron Buxton’s score minutes earlier in the same inning.
Pablo López, claiming victory, only allowed two hits, the only ones hit by the host’s strike. He walked three batters and struckout eight in 5 1/3 innings.
On the other hand, the Tampa Bay Rays, with Harold Ramírez as the designated hitter, beat the Detroit Tigers 4-0 at Tropicana Field.
The man from Cartagena went down 2-0.
