Tennis players Jelena Rybakina and Carlos Alcaraz are set to make a glorious roster at the Masters tournament in Miami. The couple was one step closer to winning the tournament, completing the Sunshine Double, winning the Indian Wells tournament and victory in Miami that same year.
Before Rybakina and Alcaraz, there were eleven men and women. Iga Swiatek (2022) was the last woman to win consecutive prestigious tournaments, while Roger Federer became the last man in 2017.
Kazakhstan Rybakina defeated Jessica Pegula 7-6 (3), 6-4 in the semi-finals last night to achieve their thirteenth consecutive win. The game started with seven duos and a timeout. The players also had a hard time getting their serve games afterwards. 11 out of 22 matches have ended with a break.
Petra Kvitová and Sorana Cirstea will decide who will be Rybakina’s opponent in the other semi-finals.
Alcaraz in the semifinals
Alcaraz easily advanced to the semi-finals of the men’s tournament. The Indian Wells winner defeated last season’s best of Indian Wells, Taylor Fritz, 6-4, 6-2.
The Spaniard decided with sledgehammer blows from the baseline. In both sets, he managed to break the American immediately and did not give up his serve in the first set, despite two intermediate balls.
