Millonarios is aiming for a strong start in the Copa Sudamericana

A motivated Millionaires, directed by the samario Alberto Gamero, will receive an irregular Defensa y Justicia this Tuesday at 9 p.m. at the Nemesio Camacho El Campín Stadium in Bogotá, in what will be his debut in the Copa Sudamericana 2023.

It will be the first day of Group F, which also includes América Mineiro and Peñarol.

The Colombian team reached the South American after failing to progress in their intention to move up in the Copa Libertadores, where they were eliminated by Brazilian Atlético Mineiro.

That setback makes up for everything, as they are now leaders in the Colombian league after a 2-0 win over Atlético Bucaramanga, with goals from Carlos Ruiz, who had not played any official games this year due to injury, and Yuber Quiñones.

Just in the weekend’s game, Gamero saved some of his key players such as midfielders Larry Vásquez and David Silva and striker Leonardo Castro as he reflected on Tuesday’s game.

On the other hand, on the ninth date of the Argentine championship, Defensa y Justicia, led by Julio Vaccari and champion of the Sudamericana in 2020, could not win against Vélez Sarsfield at home, despite having one player still on the field after they lost them will evict José Florentín, with which he completed four games in a row in which he does not know the win.

The Argentinian team is sixth, six points behind leader River Plate.

For Viccari, the South American group that hit them is “one of the toughest” in this year’s tournament.

“But it’s what he played, you have to play it and go to win (…) The expectation for what comes next is to go find all the games on all the courses. We will go to Colombia to try and raise the name of the club,” he said.

Players such as striker Nicolás Fernández, midfielder Santiago Solari and midfielder David Barbona, who are Halcón de Varela’s main forwards, are expected to appear for Millonarios.
