Sabry Lamouchi fears Cardiff City top scorer Callum Robinson could miss the final eight crucial games of the season as the Bluebirds’ fight for survival reaches a tipping point.

Robinson was injured in last month’s win over Reading but was sidelined for the final stages of the game despite clearly being uncomfortable and limping off the pitch.

That tendon injury was costly. Robinson was initially thought to be out until the international break, but when he was ruled out against Swansea City last week, further questions were raised about his fitness for the remainder of the campaign.

And now, just a month before the end of the campaign, it seems more and more likely that we will not see Robinson, who is the top scorer of the club with seven goals and six assists this season, back in action before the end of the season. .

“I’m worried and scared (that he will be out) for the rest of the season,” Lamouchi said of Robinson’s injury.

“We have a lot of games in April and everything will be over in a month. When you stay for a month, you need a month minimum to return.

“I prefer to be honest. He’s doing everything to get back as soon as possible, he works morning and afternoon, twice a day, but it’s probably not enough.”

However, Lamouchi said his most optimistic view was that Robinson could again face Rotherham, Huddersfield Town and Burnley in the last three games of the campaign, but he did not look hopeful.

The better news is that Perry Ng, who came out late against the Swans and looked to be in a lot of pain, trained on Wednesday and will be back in training on Thursday, so it looks like he’ll be heading to Blackpool.

However, Kion Etete, who withdrew through injury in stoppage time against Rotherham, looks out while Callum O’Dowd remains a serious doubt after being taken off at half-time in the South Wales derby.

“Robinson will not be with us. Kiona Etete too. Callum O’Dowd will attempt to do a session today. It’s a big question mark,” added Lamouchi.

“Perry Ng trained yesterday and will train today. This is the Blackpool team.”

He added: “I thought [Etete] I would be ready for this game. Unfortunately it’s too short. Then we’ll see the next game, Sunderland on Monday. It’s just a tendon in the last game.

“And Callum O’Dowd is exactly the same (an injury sustained while on duty in Ireland).”

So Cardiff are likely to travel to Bloomfield Road this weekend for a crucial clash with relegation rivals Blackpool.

A win for the home side would mean Cardiff would be less than a point behind, while the Bluebirds, who are in their last three matches but outside the relegation zone on goal difference, are looking for their first win in four games.
