Den Bosch ice hockey players have reached the semi-finals of the Euro Hockey League. In Amstelveen, the SCHC was beaten after gunfights. After regular time the score was 1-1 between the two Dutchmen.
Den Bosch will face Germany’s Düsseldorfer HC in the semi-finals on Sunday at 11:30. This duel can be seen live on NOS.nl and in the NOS app. The Spanish rival awaits a possible final: Club de Campo and Complutense will face each other in the other semi-final on Saturday.
Comprehensive complaint
Den Bosch’s victory over SCHC resulted in excitement. In Xan de Waard’s decisive penalty shootout, the video referee decided that the SCHC player had committed a violation. The team from Bilthoven complained extensively to the refereeing board, but Den Bosch still won.
The first goal of the match came in the third quarter. Laura Nunnink put Den Bosch ahead after a deflecting penalty corner. Five minutes later it was already 1:1. Yibbi Jansen scored from the penalty spot after her corner was stopped by a Den Bosch defender.
As a result, penalties had to bring the decision. SCHC missed the first two and could have leveled up if De Waard hadn’t been allowed to try hard.
With a narrow win, Den Bosch is still in contention to win the European Hockey League for the eighteenth time (23 editions). Last year the team had to concede victory to Amsterdam.
Revenge
The SCHC can quickly avenge the imminent and doubtful defeat in their eyes. On April 20, both teams will face each other in the final of the Dutch Cup. The Bilthoven team is currently leading the Oberliga and may face Den Bosch again in the playoffs in May.
