A huge Welsh football match was abandoned amidst shocking scenes after a brawl broke out in the crowd. Flint Town’s Cymru Premier home game against Caernarfon was called off after a brawl in the stands left a fan with “serious injuries”.

The Football Association of Wales will launch an investigation into what happened during a match in their domestic league.

Flint led 2-0 in the crucial relegation battle at Cae and Castel when the referee called a stoppage.

A representative for Flint said they “strongly condemn” such behavior. Two groups of players left the field of play after the disturbances and half an hour later the game was confirmed to have been abandoned.

An ambulance was seen on the ground and North Wales Police confirmed that a man was taken to hospital following the incident. On Sunday, April 9, a curfew was instituted in the area for 24 hours until 6:30 pm.

A North Wales Police spokesman said: “A man who suffered serious injuries at the stadium during the incident has been taken to hospital in Aintree.

“As a result of the riots, the match was canceled and there continues to be a strong police presence in the area. The city of Flint is currently under 24-hour surveillance.”

Flint spoke about the incident on Twitter. Their statement read: “As a club, we strongly condemn the appalling behavior of a minority of people during tonight’s game. We wish the two injured people a speedy and full recovery and urge anyone with mobile phone footage of the incidents to contact us. police.

“We would like to sincerely thank the paramedics and club delegates for their efforts immediately after. Both clubs will cooperate fully with the police in identifying those involved. This is a very sad day for everyone associated with Flint Town United.”
