Korfball players from DVO/Transus have qualified for the final of the Korfball league for the first time in the club’s history. On Tuesday evening Dutch champion Fortuna ruled in favor of Bennekom team as best of three series with 23:16.
PKC/Vertom face off in Rotterdam Ahoy on Saturday afternoon. The team has already secured its place in the final on Sunday.
Fortuna clearly won the first game by ten points, while DVO managed to win it last Saturday. In Delft, host Fortuna was allowed to finish the job, but DVO turned out to be a bit more difficult.
The decisive game had an inherent first period, but DVO had a hole before the timeout (12-14). This lead was only extended in the second half until a final score of 23:16 appeared on the scoreboard.
two narrow wins
Founded in 1946 and only making the playoffs for the first time last season, the club can now prepare for the national championship fight against PKC. During the regular season, PKC narrowly beat DVO twice.
PKC visited LDODK/Rinsma on Sunday and won 22-19. After the previous 35:21 home win, that was enough to secure a spot at Ahoy.
The last three finals of the Korfbal league were played between PKC and Fortuna. PKC won in 2021 and Fortuna in 2019 and 2022. There was no final in 2020 due to the corona pandemic.
