Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney can do no wrong for Wrexham fans.

They bought the club, invested a lot of money, put it on the world stage through their hit documentary Disney+ and brought the feel-good factor back to the city and the football club.

So it’s no surprise that Reynolds’ final Wrexham performance was another huge success.

McElhenney would have been 46 on Friday 14th April, and to mark the occasion, Reynolds enlisted the help of Wrexham fans, Hollywood actors and famous singers to dedicate the actor It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia a memorable song about how to pronounce your name.

Reynolds, as usual, gets the money. The two-minute video, which appears to have high production value, features plenty of laughs and celebrity faces, with an annoyingly catchy melody that is sure to stay with you.

Among the faces familiar to Wrexham fans in the video are chief executive Humphrey Kerr, councilor Sean Harvey and chief executive Fleur Robinson. Although, of course, Paul Mullin, Ben Foster and their teammates also get some airtime.

Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton and Caitlin Olsen, who is also his wife, also feature prominently in McElhenney’s film. While other stars like Hollywood actor Adam DeWine and even Welsh icon Charlotte Church are involved.

Scenes of Wrexham fans cheering in the famous Turf pub are peppered throughout the video, singing an ode to the club’s co-owner, while Irish flags and dancing are also peppered as a nod to McElhenny’s Celtic roots.

This song essentially addresses the numerous mispronunciations of the name McElhenney, while also giving the definitive answer to those who still don’t know how to pronounce it.

For the avoidance of doubt, as you’re sure to discover upon hearing the song, it’s ‘Mackle’ for tackle and ‘Henney’ for penny, so there should be no excuses now.

Warning: The following video contains profanity.

Later, Reynolds tweeted, “Would be a shame if this became the @wrexham_afc racecourse corner.”

He also revealed that Benj Pasek and Justin Paul helped create the song. The couple known as Pasek and Paul is an American songwriting duo who have won Oscars, Grammys, Tony Awards and Golden Globes. His works include “La La Land” and “The Greatest Showman”.
