F1: Verstappen wins the Miami Grand Prix; Checo Perez, second

Dutch Mex Verstappenfrom Red Bull Racing, conquered Miami Grand Prix this Sunday at the Miami International Speedway and consolidated his lead in the Constructors’ Championship; his partner is mexican Sergio Perez took second place.

Checo Perez started first on the grid, with Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso next to him. The Mexican racer went to the start confidently, did not give way to the Spaniard and remained in the lead.

Quickly and without problems, the Dutchman left the Frenchman on the road and moved to fourth place before the end of the ninth.

As his teammate got close, Czeco increased his speed on his RB19 and started to fight for the fastest lap with Verstappen.

Carlos Sainz could no longer cope with the two-time world champion in 14th place, the Dutchman moved up one position again with great ease. Max was approaching second place.

Alonso didn’t last more than two laps with the Dutchman in the rearview mirror, while Verstappen came in second with 41 laps to go.

Sainz was the first of the top five to pit, and at the exit he took seventh place, on fresh tires he overtook Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes and climbed to sixth place.

On lap 21, the engineer called Cheko to “box”. The Mexican swapped out the mid-size tires for a set of hard ones, entered the track in fourth and passed Alpine’s Esteban Ocon for third.

Alonso drove through the pits on lap 24 and lost second to Perez. Cheko began to pursue Verstappen.

Ten laps later, the Mexican was still chasing his teammate, but Checo could not get closer than 15 seconds.

On lap 46, Max finally got into the pits to put on his socks. The Dutchman returned to the race in second place, with Cheko regaining the lead. Something that didn’t last more than two laps.
