Erling Haaland, the best player in the Premier League 2022-2023

The 22-year-old Nordic striker is the first footballer in history to manage to combine these two awards in the same campaign, the first in the top tier of English football, where he came from Borussia Dortmund.

Haaland has scored 36 goals, making him the top goalscorer, having taken 123 shots, 60 of them on target, and has provided eight assists. It has surpassed the record of 34 they had Andrew Cole and Alan Shearer.

So key for Manchester City to win the fifth league title in six seasons.

This is the third City player to win the best player award in a row, after Belgium’s Kevin de Bruyne (2019/20 and 2021/22) and Portugal’s Ruben Dias (2020/21).

To win the award, he surpassed the other seven nominees, De Bruyne himself, Harry Kane, Martin Odegaard, Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka and Kieran Tripier.
