Miami Heat leader Jimmy Butler assured this Saturday that he remains confident his team will advance to the NBA Finals, emphasizing that he “will not allow anyone to stop believing” in their chances of success, after the hard suffered a loss at home to the Boston Celtics that forced the seventh and deciding game at the TD Garden.
“Basketball is fun, very entertaining. We can do it, I know we will. We have to go out and win in a very difficult environment,” Butler said at the press conference after the 104-103 loss to the Celtics, with a miraculous basket from Derrick White with 0.1 on the clock.
“We lost and we have work to do. On the bench I told the boys that if I had played better, we wouldn’t be in this position. If I play better, we all play better,” he said.
Butler assured that he is “proud of the guys” for never stopping fighting and warned that he “will not let anyone stop believing” in the few hours left before the seventh game, which opens this Monday at the TD Garden takes place.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra also tried to keep his players’ morale high despite the heavy psychological blow he received at home.
“This is a great series. I don’t know how we’re going to do it, but we’re going to get there and get it done. The 48 hours will be like this, we’re going to have to achieve it in the most complicated way possible,” he said.
“We want to play the game now, but we’ll wait 48 hours and then we’ll do it in Boston,” he continued.
