His coach chose an eleven similar to the one he had used in previous games. The main novelty was the entry as starter of striker Francesco Esposito.

England went forward and it wasn’t long before they equalised.

Dane Scarlett charged to the left and fired a cross that deflected Alfie Devine towards goal after anticipating his marker. Barely 24 minutes had passed and the game was 1-1.

After an intense time, the game came back a bit and the first part was left with few scoring opportunities.

In the second half, Italy dominated and complicated England’s defense several times, although their forwards could never go hand-in-hand with goalkeeper Cox.

His rival also approached with shots that did not complicate the opposing rear.

However, as the match drew to a close, Italy found its prize after the referee went to VAR to assess a possible handball in the area.

After watching the game on screen, Brazilian Rodolpho Toski Marques approved the maximum penalty which Casadei changed for a goal with a shot from the corner after 87 minutes.

Italy won 2-1 and secured a ticket to the next round, where they will face Colombia on June 3 in the city of San Juan.
