Will we see Barcelona registration in the next Champions League?

The UEFA inspectors Samuel Leuba and Mirjan Koller, charged with preparing a report on the investigation into the Negreira case to be concluded with the approval or not of Barcelona’s registration for the next edition of the Champions League, have asked the Barcelona entity for more information before making a decision.

As reported to EFE by an authorized source of the club, the UEFA inspectors, aware of the existence of a file on the Negreira case, have sent a questionnaire containing some seventy questions to Barcelona, which has time to respond until next week. before making a decision.

Three scenarios are proposed: that there are no consequences and Barça can participate in the next edition of the Champions League, that there will be a temporary suspension or that a decision will not be taken until the outstanding criminal case has been completed.

When the Negreira case broke out, UEFA requested information from the Barça club to investigate payments made to José Maria Enríquez Negreira (7.3 million euros), who was Vice President of the Referees’ Technical Commission between 2001 and 2018.

Even Barcelona president Joan Laporta met with UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin in Slovenia at the end of April to personally explain the matter to him. Earlier, the club from Barcelona had sent a written report to UEFA about this.
