Hazard leaves Real Madrid

Belgian striker Eden Hazard leaves Real Madrid following the agreement reached between the player and the entity, despite the fact that the footballer still had one year left on his contract with the white club.

Real Madrid has officially announced the departure of the player who joined from Chelsea in June 2019 through a statement.

“Real Madrid and Eden Hazard have reached an agreement whereby the player will be expelled from the club as of June 30. Eden Hazard has been part of our club for four seasons, in which he has won eight titles: a European Cup, a Club World Cup, a European Super Cup, two leagues, a Copa del Rey and two Spanish Super Cups,” reads the Note issued by Real Madrid.

“Real Madrid would like to express its affection for Eden Hazard and wish him and his entire family the best of luck in this new phase,” the entity’s statement read.

Hazard, 32, came to Real Madrid as a strategic signing in June 2019 after winning the Europa League with Chelsea and being chosen as the best footballer in the league.

The Belgium international spent seven seasons with the London club, with whom he played 352 matches and scored 110 goals. He signed for five seasons with Real Madrid, but did not live up to expectations.

The player from La Louviere, who scored 126 international matches with the Belgian team, started his career at Lille in France, where he played five seasons. Later, in the 2012-2013 academic year, he was hired by Chelsea where he became one of the best players in the world.

At Real Madrid, with the last game against Athletic coming Sunday at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, Hazard has played a total of 76 games and scored just seven goals.

His stay in the white team was marked by injuries. It never came close to the expectations raised. First, a pre-season injury when he arrived delayed his performance, but more serious was the one he suffered later, in a Champions League match against Paris Saint Germain at the hands of his teammate Thomas Meunier, who broke his right ankle.

He was out for two months and shortly after his return he suffered a fibula tear, which required surgery. Nothing was as expected, neither Real Madrid nor Hazard, who counts less and less in the white team.

In fact, in this last course he has only participated in six league games, one in the cup and three in European competitions. Now he is starting his rise in Spanish football and is even thinking about retirement.

Eden Hazard’s departure joins that of Marco Asensio and Mariano Díaz who announced their withdrawal from Real Madrid hours earlier, also this Saturday.
