A total of 56 Colo Colo fans have been detained by Buenos Aires police near La Bombonera, where there were incidents surrounding the game in which Argentina’s Boca Juniors beat the Chileans in the Copa Libertadores, police sources reported Wednesday.
According to police sources, two iron bars, three wooden sticks and four pieces of masonry were seized from those arrested.
In Tuesday night’s incidents, six Chilean fans were injured, five of whom have already been acquitted, and a motorized police officer was injured when he fell off his motorcycle.
During the security operation, more than 269 reports were made for violations, the majority (232) for, among other things, trying to enter the stadium without a ticket or invitation and 16 for violation of access rights, but also for resale of tickets for the introduction of alcoholic beverages or fireworks, for entering unauthorized places and disrupting lines.
Before the game, two men were detected working as controls at the stadium, identified with the clothes of the Union of Workers of Sports and Civil Entities (UTEDyC), who were arrested for fraud, charging a minor $100 from a Chilean family to enter La Bombonera, and counterfeit tickets were seized.
Two other Chilean fans were arrested for resisting and attacking the authority by causing incidents at the stadium entrances.
The acts of violence that took place on Tuesday night are being investigated by the specialized prosecutor for mass events of the city of Buenos Aires.
Boca Juniors sealed victory against Colo Colo in a game with a goal from Marcelo Weigandt, which secured the ‘Xeneize’ pass to the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores and gave the Chileans one last chance to reach the round of 16 in the next day, after Deportivo Pereira’s 1-0 defeat against Monagas.
