It already seems to be the custom that at every performance of the Tampa Bay Rays Harold Ramírez from Cartagena stands out. And in his team’s 7-3 victory this Sunday against the Texas Rangers, that was no exception.
In front of 23,069 spectators at Tropicana Field, the Bolivarian baseball player once again showed all of his offensive prowess, going 3-3, with an RBI, again one of the best when it came to hitting his ninth.
His good outing began in the bottom of the first inning, when he singled on a pitch by lefthanded starter Martín Pérez, which brought Wander Franco to second base and Yandy Díaz to third base.
Then, in the bottom of the second chapter, for the same pitcher, ‘the Pitbull’ singled with a shot to centerfield that served to drag Taylor Walls in tow at the time to score the 4-0 at the plate.
Then, in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Bolivarian hit another line single to centerfield before Martínez Pérez’s pitches. When he was already first, the Colombian took advantage of his cunning and stole the base to finish second.
As early as the 2nd half of the seventh episode, Josh Lowe replaced Harold and acted as the designated hitter for the rest of the game. His batting average was .306.
On the mound, victory went to stellar southpaw Shane McClanahan, who gave up four hits in seven innings, three earned runs, walked one and struckout five rivals. His ERA was 2.18.
The loss was credited to righthander Martín Pérez, who in three innings and a third gave him 10 hits, scored seven lines, walked three batters and struckout two. His ERA is 4.67.
The Tampa Bay Rays are first in the American League East Division with a record of 48 wins and 20 losses. The Florida team will begin a series against the Oakland Athletics on Monday.
