Chelsea signed the French striker Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig on Tuesday for 52 million pounds (60 million euros).

The French striker is Chelsea’s first signing under Mauricio Pochettino, the new Blues coach for the 2023-2024 season.

Nkunku, 25, is coming off scoring 16 goals in 25 Bundesliga games, where he has spent the past four seasons.

“I’m incredibly happy to have arrived at Chelsea. It’s been a great effort from the club to get me here and I’m looking forward to meeting my new coach and my teammates and showing the fans what I can do on the field”.

“After playing in Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga, I now want to play in the Premier League, one of the strongest leagues in the world. I am very excited about this challenge and I am very proud to wear the Chelsea shirt” .

Nkunku began his professional career with Paris Saint Germain, making 78 first-team appearances and winning three French leagues and two French Cups, before moving to Leipzig in 2019.

In Germany, he was named the best player of the Bundesliga in the 2021-2022 season, when he scored 35 goals in all competitions and won the German Cup.
