David De Gea leaves Manchester United

“It is time for a new challenge. Manchester will always be in my heart,” the player said today.

De Gea, 32, is leaving United after twelve years of winning a premier leaguetwo League Cups, an FA Cup and a Europa League, in addition to being awarded the accolade three times Matt Busby, recognizing United’s best player of the season.

The Illescas man terminated his contract on June 30 and despite having been in talks for months to extend it, he has failed to reach an agreement with the club, which has asked for a significant cut in his salary.

That reports The Athletic, the United offered him a first contract with a lower salary the one De Gea had and once the Spaniard accepted, the club pulled out and offered him a reduced salary.

This provoked protest from the goalkeeper, who posted a bored emoticon, expressing his frustration with the club where he spent the last twelve seasons of his sporting career.
