Veerman leads PSV to cup final against ten-man Go Ahead Eagles

Three days after the Eredivisie victory over Ajax (2-1), Go Ahead Eagles had long dreamed of a new blow on Wednesday evening. But after a good start in the first semi-final of the KNVB Cup, the Deventer club had to admit that they were superior to PSV: 1-2.

For example, the people of Eindhoven qualified for the final of the cup tournament for the eighteenth time. PSV will play against AZ or Ajax in mid-April. These clubs will face each other in the other semifinals on Thursday evening in Alkmaar.

Go Ahead takes the lead

PSV coach Roger Schmidt gave a remarkable eulogy to Go Ahead at the start of the season. After the competitive match at Adelaarhorst (a heavy win for PSV at the end of September), he described the Eagles as ‘the best opponent ever in the Eredivisie’.

This time, the team of coach Kees van Wonderen initially offered PSV a good game. Go Ahead had to leave most of the ball to the visitors, but had no problems for long.
