NFL: Damar Hamlin reappears in Bills seven months after cardiac arrest

Damar Hamlin, Buffalo Bills quarterback who was injured acute cardiovascular disease Last January, he reappeared this Saturday in his team’s 23-19 win over the Indianapolis Colts in the first week of the NFL preseason.

Hamlin suffered a heart attack in the week 17 game of the 2022 season that saw the Bills face the Bengals.

The event occurred after Hamlin knocked down an opponent, he passed out right on the field and he had to do PCR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation). After stabilization, he was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where he remained in critical condition for a week. He was released on January 11 and continued his rehabilitation at home.

He received clearance to return to training in April; he first participated in exercises with his team in June and was part of a training camp at the end of July.

In this Saturday game against the Colts, Damar Hamlin was very active. He formed with the special teams after Indianapolis hitting back and played second-half defense, leading in tackles with three.

The Buffalo defense was dominant from the first strike of the Colts; Dane Jackson intercepted Anthony Richardson. The Bills attack turned their defense into a James Cook rush landing.

In the second quarter, Buffalo increased their lead to 10:0.

The Colts’ reaction began in the last second of the first half with a rushing touchdown by Jake Funk that put them 10–7 apart.

Indianapolis came back 10-13 early in the third quarter with an interception driven into the end zone by Darius Rush.

Buffalo regained a 17-13 lead with a touchdown pass from Matt Barkley to Tyrell Shavers and extended to 23-13 with a touchdown to Desmon Patmon in the fourth quarter.

The Colts responded with a Jason Huntley touchdown, making it 23–19 to the Bills.
