Technical Director UNAM PumasArgentine Anthony Mohamedadmitted this Wednesday that he has not yet been able to fully capture his game idea in the Mexican club.
Mohamed, 53, was unveiled on March 27 as club strategist for the National Autonomous University of Mexico, where he recorded three wins, four draws and two losses in all competitions.
At a press conference, Mohamed stated.
The team still does not have the idea that we want, it takes time to instill the idea, to change the mentality of the players who have been playing for a long time, but we have the responsibility to win, we must fulfill our tasks.
“Sometimes against teams like América or Cruz Azul they play with intensity and with others we need time to get into the game and it ends up taking a toll on you. This change of mentality and psychological discipline is what this team needs, you have to understand that all games are very important, ”he added.
The Turk explained that in addition to the mental aspect, the club has to work hard on strength. Under Mohamed Pumas scored 16 goals for and nine against.
Pumas will face Toluca on Friday, the fourth day of the Apertura tournament, which will mark the restart of Apertura 2023 after a month-long hiatus from the League Cup.
“It will be a pretty open match where the two opponents will have their moment and whoever knows how to defend better will be the one who wins, I think we both have a lot of weapons to deal damage. ” Mohamed said.
Pumas is fourth overall with five points, while Toluca is ninth with four points.
