Spain wins the 2023 Australian and New Zealand Women’s World Cup.

La Roja is the world champion.

Spain’s national team won their first world title by beating England 1-0 in the final of the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, played in front of more than 75,000 fans at Sydney’s Accor Stadium this Sunday.

The Spanish team won with soloist Olga Carmona, who capped off a great team game with a superb cross to the far post, impossible for English goalkeeper Mary Earps.

Those managed by Jorge Vilda were able to tie the win in the extra part when the English burden was most present looking for a draw; However, Jennifer Hermoso missed the maximum penalty when her shot was held up by Earps, one of the British team’s figures, a penalty awarded by American whistler Tori Penso and reviewed at VAR, after Keira Walsh had handed Salma Paralluelo.

In the final stretch, England under Sarina Wigman were aggressively looking for the equalizing goal to send match-making into overtime thanks to 13 minutes of stoppage time, but Spain were closest to extending their lead.

Thus, the Spanish women’s team receives its first world title and repeats what the men’s team did in the 2010 South African Cup.
