Bouhanni broke his cervical spine by hitting a passerby during the Turkey Tour

French cyclist Nacer Bouhanni (31) had to leave the Turkey Tour after a striking incident. During the rematch that stretched from Selçuk to Alaçatı, Bouhanni ran into someone walking confidently on the road. Some runners, including Bouhanni, were unable to avoid this person and fell at high speed.

A video of the event has been posted on social media. The motorbike in front of the peloton overtakes the person crossing the road without doing anything else. A bystander tries to push the walker away as the pack passes, but several riders collide with the two.

A viewer filmed the violent clash:

Bouhanni had to go to the hospital for an examination. He was found there with a fracture of the first cervical vertebra, the team of Arkéa Samsic reports. He would soon be transferred to France for treatment.

The French sprinter from Arkéa Samsic has won countless victories in his career, especially in the Giro and Vuelta. Two weeks ago, Bouhanni recorded his first win in 2022 at the one-day French cycling race La Roue Tourangelle.
