Junior: poor rich players

And once again Junior is left out of the group of eight and watches the competition final on television. Nothing new.

Same from Amaranto, same from Cruz Real, same from Bolillo and same again from Reyes. Clearly the problem is not with the technicians.

Junior looks like a hotel. Players come and go. Others entrench themselves by “nailing” the team with multi-year contracts that waste time and money. And they live like rich people, while Junior is a poor football team. She in the penthouse, Junior in the basement.

The fans suffer, but they don’t care. Money insured (and quite a bit of it). They don’t care if they win, lose or draw. Whether they play or not. They throw tantrums about everything. They call the owners to complain. They are never responsible for anything. They are the gods of Olympus.

They walk through the clouds as if they were Messi or Cristiano. They went from the bus to the 4×4 truck and from renting to luxury apartments and they forgot their profession.

They don’t talk to the press, they distance themselves from the fans, because they are convinced that they are the cause of their poor performances.

The famous ‘best payroll in the country’ was no longer that, but it remained ‘the most expensive’ and ineffective in the league. They don’t beat the big boys, the kids like it.

Teams with ten to twenty times less salary are above that. There are ten teams above Junior! and they didn’t even notice. They enter the playing field as if they are the absolute leaders and play for little or perhaps nothing.

For four years, Junior was neither a big nor a small team. They are a mid-table team and are a long way from winning the 10th star. But the players have to get paid.

December is coming and they are going on holiday while the Junior fans here will continue to chew their sorrows…
