The FIFA announced this Wednesday that the event will go from 16 to 24 participating teams, who will face each other in six groups of four teams each, with the first two in each zone and the four best third parties going through.
In this way the places were distributed as follows: AFC 4, CAF 4, Concacaf 4, CONMEBOL 4, OFC 2, UEFA 5 and Colombia, as host country of the event, has a guaranteed place.
“We are very pleased that FIFA has taken our request into consideration and in this way can continue to innovate in these championships, where we see the great talent of future generations, who will ultimately be the ones who nurture the senior teams of each country. As organizers of this important tournament, we have worked hard and we will continue to do so, because it is a country event where we will continue to demonstrate Colombia’s greatness in sports,” he stated.
