Board of Directors of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) suspended this Thursday at Russian Olympic Committee with immediate effect upon availability attributed to organizations from Donetsk, Kherson, Lugansk and Zaporozhyecities whose sports organizations are governed by Olympic Committee of Ukraine.
The IOC reported this on its website, recalling the “unilateral decision” adopted by the Russian Olympic Committee on October 5 to “include these sports organizations among its members.” “This is a violation of the Olympic Charter, since it violates the territorial integrity of the Olympic Committee of Ukraine”– added in the press release.
“Russian Olympic Committee. no longer has the right to function as the National Olympic Committee. (CON), as defined in the Olympic Charter, and cannot receive any funding from the Olympic Movement,” the IOC press text states.
“As stated in the IOC position and recommendations dated 28 March 2023, which remain in full force and effect, The IOC reserves the right to decide on the participation of individual neutral athletes with Russian passports at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. and at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina,” the note reads.

The IOC Board of Directors also noted that it “reserves the right to take any decision or additional measures depending on the development of this situation” resulting from the current situation. Ukrainian warwhich started in February 2022 with Russian Army Invasion.
