The second semi-final of the 2023 Rugby World Cup takes place today (Saturday, October 21), when England face South Africa at the Stade de France, in Paris. The same finalists from four years ago and the finalists from the last time France hosted the Rugby World Cup will face each other in a round in early 2023.
South Africa coach Jacques Nienaber maintained confidence in the starting lineup and bench that defeated France at the same stadium last Sunday. Kobus Reinach and Duane Vermeulen retain their positions at scrum half and eighth respectively.
Meanwhile, Siya Kolisi will captain the team in a Rugby World Cup match for the 11th time, equaling John Smith’s record.
For England, Joe Marler and George Martin entered the market and second row respectively, replacing Ellis Genge and Ollie Chessum, who dropped to the bench. Freddie Steward is called up at full-back in place of Marcus Smith.
A total of 26 of the 43 players from the 2019 Rugby World Cup final returned to play for St-Denis in 2023: Elliot Daly, Manu Tuilagi, Jonny May, Tom Curry, Courtney Laws, Maro Itohe, Jamie George and Captain Owen .
