Charlton won the league three times while wearing the Red Devils (1957, 1965 and 1967), as well as the 1963 FA Cup and 1963 FA Cup. European Cupin 1968.

Charlton remained at United until 1973 before signing for United. Preston North End, where he spent two years as a player-coach. He spent time with Waterford in the Irish League and in Australia before resigning to become Wigan Athletic manager and caretaker manager for the 1982–83 season.
Before that, he wrote his name in the history books. helped England win the World Cup on home soil in 1966..
