Llaneros 4, Barranquilla FC 2: emergency landing

Barranquilla FC, which had problems reaching Villavicencio by air, made a ‘hard landing’ after a 4-2 defeat against Llaneros, on the second day of the semi-final home runs of the Promotion Tournament.

The Currambero team could only arrive in three groups overland in ‘Villavo’ this Monday, meaning the match had to last from 5.45 pm to 7.30 pm. The idea was to be at the competition headquarters from Sunday. but four landing attempts failed and the team was initially diverted to Yopal and then to Bogotá.

Despite the inconveniences experienced by the Currambero team, Dimayor did not postpone the confrontation.

José Andrade gave the locals the lead after just two minutes. But Jordan Barrera and Stewart Acuña turned the score around with goals after 11 and 22 minutes.

It seemed that ‘El Quilla’ settled into the match and overcame adversities, but as the match went on he felt tired and in the pain of the initial phase he found himself at a disadvantage again.

Juan Diego Nieva and Bryan Ureña converted the goals, making the score 3-2. Marcos Landaburu scored the fourth goal.

Cristian Santander prevented the defeat from becoming heavier with his saves.

Barranquilla FC played under protest according to a statement it issued before the match, explaining the entire situation it experienced during its journey.

“Despite the new fixture schedule, Barranquilla FC would like to strongly and resolutely express our protest and request for Fair Play, in a manner that takes into account the integrity and well-being of the players and coaching staff, who have gone through extreme and exhausting situations to participate in the game, forcing us to compete in adverse physical and emotional conditions, endangering the health and performance of our players. For fair play, the principles of justice and sporting equality,” said the Caribbean club.
