It takes less time for the cue ball’s voice to be sung. With less than ten days before the bats and handles move, the Colombian Professional Baseball League presented its 2023-2024 season Tuesday morning in the press room of the Édgar Rentería Stadium.
Amid a large turnout of sports journalists, Pedro Salzedo Salom, president of the professional division of Colombian baseball (Diprobeisbol), reaffirmed that the opening day will be Friday, November 3 with the Tigres-Caimanes games in Cartagena; and Leones-Vaqueros, in Monteria.
These four teams will head into the new season, which will include 84 games, 42 of which for each team. More than 60 will be broadcast via the Telecaribe Channel. According to Kodiró Miranda, the League’s head of operations, the game will be played with the round-robin system during the regular phase. The first will advance directly to the final, while the second and third will compete in a best-of-five semi-final series.
“Baseball is very expensive, we do it with a lot of effort, so we hope for the cooperation of all of you and the fans,” said Salzedo Salom.
The ticket price in the three stadiums where the competition will take place will be 15 thousand pesos for all stands, the same as in the 2022-2023 campaign.
