LATEST: Bristol City sack Nigel Pearson after derby defeat and strange criticism of Cardiff City

Lamuchi queued up to return

Former Cardiff City managers Neil Warnock and Sabry Lamouchi will replace former Bluebirds player Gareth Ainsworth at QPR.

Ainsworth has been relieved of his duties as manager of the west London club, who are 23rd in the table, after a poor start to the campaign. And it looks like some names familiar to Cardiff fans could fill the bench.

TalkSPORT reports that Lamouche, who was left without a job after Cardiff decided not to offer him a new contract in the summer, has held talks with QPR over the role. They also suggest that Neil Warnock is “very interested” in returning to Loftus Road, where he led the club to promotion from the Premier League more than a decade ago.

Warnock stepped down as Huddersfield Town manager at the start of this season.

Antwi returns defeated

Following the draw between Cardiff and QPR, the Bluebirds’ under-21 side suffered a 3-2 defeat to their London counterparts this afternoon.

Caden Harrack converted an own goal and James Crowle scored a late consolation goal as Darren Pearse’s side suffered defeat in their Professional Development League 2 match, adding to what has been a dreadful season so far. Now for the last placed U21 team in the table with just one win so far.

The only positive aspect of this game was that Cameron Entwee, who suffered a serious injury at the end of last season, returned to action, making his first call-up this season.

Antwi, 22, impressed last season and was loaned out in the summer before injury struck. However, he could look to make a move in January if he returns to his full fitness and form from last season. Speaking about Antwi this summer, Perce said: “The plan was to go out on loan in January but it had to be the right loan. Nothing came up that we thought would be right for him, so we decided to keep his building.

“I had an option at the end of the year that we looked at. But obviously the injury he suffered kept him out for six months, because before the season we wanted to loan him out. I think I could get a really good one. but the injury has slowed him down and the plan is for him to go out on loan in the second half of the season when he is fit again and see where he is now.

“If he does well, he will get another contract with us. Otherwise, the harsh reality of football is that his contract will not be renewed. You need to show results week after week. But he’s been great since he arrived.”

Meite: I’m improving with each game

Striker Jaku Meite believes he is improving with each game after an early season setback at his new club.

The Ivorian finally scored for the Bluebirds in their impressive win over Huddersfield Town last week and is now ahead of Ike Ugbo to lead Errol Bulut’s side. And he believes that he is now showing better results than at the beginning of the campaign.

“Last season I played mainly on the right, but I know I can play up front as well,” he said after the win over Bristol City. “I try to do my best for the team, that’s what I do in every game. I’m getting sharper and sharper, so I think I’m a lot better now. I’m happy with my game and with the team.

“It was a very difficult game. We know that it is difficult to beat all the teams in the championship. We did it at home, in front of the fans, so everyone was happy. “We just want to move forward.”

Severnside Derby top scorer Perry Ng believes the enthusiasm surrounding the club is creating a feeling of it being a completely different club to the one that battled relegation last season.

“Now we have a very good group,” Ng added. “We have some really good players and we look like a good team. It’s incredibly. Compared to last year, this is a different place. “We have been doing well in the derby recently, so we will continue like this and maintain this position.”

Women beat Barry Town

Ian Darbyshire congratulated his “electric” Cardiff City women’s team after beating Barry Town 6-1 at Cardiff City Stadium yesterday. In front of more than 1,000 fans, the Bluebirds put on a real show to extend their position at the top of the Adran Premier after an unbeaten start to the campaign.

“I thought we were electric for the first 15 minutes,” Darbyshire said. “We did exactly what we set out to do and for the rest of the first half we calmed down and let Barry come into the game.

“I told the players at half-time that we had to raise our level and they did that in the second half. We weren’t brilliant, but we did our job and scored some very good goals. We can get a lot of positive things. .

“Barry played very well and caused us some problems. I give them credit, they played an important role today and they can be proud of how they did it.”
