Dutch Golf Federation (NGF) General Manager Jeroen Stevens resigned. Reports regarding the behavior of Stevens and national coach Maarten Lafeber were received this summer through the Dutch Center for Safe Sport (CVSN).
The investigation into the reports and conduct of NGF leaders is ongoing. It is not known exactly what the complaints about Stevens are. According to the association, this includes communication and political issues.
“The tremendous passion has diminished.”
Stevens is not waiting for the results of the investigation. “My great passion for my job was diminished when an unexpected series of reports about me came through CVSN on August 2nd,” he said in a statement released by the golf association.
“Fortunately, this matter is being investigated objectively, but the incident has taken all the joy and energy out of my job. Therefore, I decided to resign from my position.”
Stevens spent more than two decades at NGF, first as technical director and then as general manager. Under his leadership, NGF recently won the Solheim Cup (competition between teams of European and American golf professionals) for 2026. According to the association, it is “a good outcome for Stevens’ career at NGF.”
Stevens’ duties will be temporarily handled by Trustee Danielle Wallet. The golf association said Stevens would “support NGF with a good transfer until at least March 1, 2024.”
