Rivaldo is under investigation on suspicion of financing a coup in Brazil

Brazilian Federal Police is investigating whether the former football player Rivaldo and Neymar’s sister, Rafaella Santosfinanced coup d’état 8 Januaryafter several detainees reported that they were among the donors, according to one of the organizers, gospel singer Salomao Vieira.

Vieira is imprisoned for organizing and funding through donations the so-called coup camps, from which hundreds of people fled to Congress headquarters, Supreme Court and Planalto Palacein Brasilia.

Vieira is believed to be hiding in Paraguay, where they were detained last month Interpol three people who participated in the January 8 attacks, at the request of Brazilian authorities, the magazine writes Vezha.

Upon returning to Brazil, one of these detainees told police that he had lived for a time in Paraguay with Vieira, who revealed to him the identities of some of these alleged donors, including Rivaldo and Santos herself. The former football player, he added, handed over about 50 thousand reais (almost 180 thousand pesos).

Through his lawyers, Rivaldo confirmed that he gave money to Vieria, but the amount did not exceed 2 thousand reais ($400) and that it was intended for “needy people in the church,” while Santos’ defense claims that she did not give any money to the gospel singer.

Rivaldo is one of several Brazilian athletes who have publicly declared their support for Bolsonaro and even participated in his election campaign. On the day of his election defeat, he compared it to the disaster that Brazil experienced in 1998 World Cup final.when France gave them the score 3-0.

Santos, like his brother Neymar, has also expressed public support for the former president.

Vieira, like the other defendants, is also a fugitive, as are the bloggers. Osvaldo Estaquio And Allan dos Santospublished on their social networks receipts for the purchase of supplies and food sent to the camps from where they asked the army for a coup.
