Ice hockey players Den Bosch fail to win in Tilburg despite numerous chances

Den Bosch achieved a surprising draw (1:1) against Tilburg in the Tulp Hoofdklasse. Despite the leaders’ numerous chances, the middle team took one point in the Brabant derby. Powerful Irish goalkeeper Ayeisha McFerran narrowly managed to clear the pass.

Den Bosch remains at the top but gives SCHC the opportunity to level the playing field. Tilburg remained in eighth place.

Tilburg took the lead with Louise Versavel converting the penalty corner. It was the Belgian international’s fifth goal this season.

Den Bosch looked for an answer, but three penalty corners could not bring the desired equality. The equalizer came just before halftime. Maartje Krekelaar initiated Sanne Koolen’s fourth penalty corner. It was Krekelaar’s seventh goal of the season.

Perfect McFerran

In the second half, which was sloppy on both sides, Tilburg goalkeeper McFerran prevented Den Bosch from scoring. He saved first from Frédérique Matla’s penalty corner, then twice from Charlotte Englebert’s effort and once from Maartje Krekelaar’s effort.

Tilburg also had some options. After Den Bosch’s penalty corner, the score increased to five to two on the counter-attack, but defender Koolen managed to win the ball without any problems.

Den Bosch accumulated penalty corners one after another in the final stage. The team was allowed to dock five times in a short period of time. The second was a variation but Imme van der Hoek pushed the ball into the side netting.

The pressure on Tilburg increased. Pleun van der Plas had a good opportunity but his shot went wide of Tilburg’s goal. The home team screamed with joy as they fought for a draw at the final whistle of the match.
