These are the rugby headlines for Monday night, November 13.

AWJ leaves Toulon

Welsh legend Alan Wyn Jones will leave French club Toulon in the coming days as the European giants are unlikely to extend his contract, according to reports in France.

The former Ospreys and Wales captain was signed by the Top 14 team as a World Cup wildcard, covering the south of France during the tournament.

But Midi Olympique report that the imminent arrival of Melvin Jamine from Toulouse will affect Jones’ situation. The Jaminet deal will likely be a significant investment and the additional financial impact means the Lions will not be retained until the end of the season as previously discussed.

Jones will be out of contract in the coming days and Jaminet’s arrival has changed Toulon’s mentality. Speaking after Wales’ game against the Barbarians, in which Jones captained the visiting Principality team, he said he was looking forward to playing in the final two games.

“I’m very grateful to be able to go to Toulon,” he told S4C. “It’s funny how things happened, I probably wouldn’t be here if it didn’t happen. Maybe a few glasses of red and lying in the sun. There are two games, so I can play. We’ll see how it goes. “

Another tragedy for Tuysova

Fijian star Josua Tuisova has suffered further family tragedies following the death of his mother.

Tuisova made headlines during the Rugby World Cup for very emotional reasons when her seven-year-old son died after a long illness. The Racing 92 player stayed in France to participate in the tournament and missed his son’s funeral.

He played in the Flying Fijians’ World Cup match against Georgia and helped them reach the round of 16 against England.

At the end of last week, Tuisov learned that his mother had passed away. He is currently out due to injury.

His Racing 92 teammates wore black armbands as a sign of respect during the weekend’s clash with Toulon, who also did the same.

“We wanted to give everything on the pitch for Josua Tuisova. Unfortunately he lost his mother and we played for him tonight,” said center Henry Chavancy. Channel +. “When it was difficult, we fought hard for him and I think this point (missing the extra point) is because of him.”

Lloyd supported Wales 10

Two former Wales internationals have backed Warren Gatland to launch Ioan Lloyd deep into the field in the coming months.

Gatland faces a difficult task as he tries to fill the void left by Dan Biggar and Gareth Anscombe. Sam Costelow is out injured until next year, while injury-prone Owen Williams is once again struggling to regain fitness. Such is the lack of experienced depth in the position that Gatland even suggested scrum-half Tomos Willimas could be a back-up option at number 10.

Scrum V experts James Hook and Tom Shanklin, however, believe Scarlets’ Lloyd is confident of his early season form following his return to Wales from Bristol.

“We don’t have 10 at the moment, but if there was a Test match now, Lloyd would start at 10,” said Hook, who played 81 games for Wales.

“He is a real talent and is brilliant in the broken game with his footwork and pace. His shots were also very good, especially from the field.

“It will be interesting to see what [Scarlets head coach] Dwayne Peele does it while Sam Costelow returns but needs a chair at 10.

Shanklin added: “We are fighting for 10 seconds as we get closer to the Six Nations.

“A lot will depend on injuries, but we look at Costelow, Williams and all the players who are no longer here. Sheedy could very well return to wrestling, but it will all depend on his form.

“If Ioan Lloyd gains momentum, confidence and form over the next few months, Wales will be looking at him at number 10.”
