Striker Neymar is recovering well from knee surgery following an injury suffered in a match in Brazil last month, but there is no forecast for when he will be able to return to the playing field, a doctor said on Monday. Team Rodrigo Lasmar.
Neymar suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his left knee during Brazil’s loss to Uruguay in South America’s World Cup qualifier and underwent surgery on November 2.
The forward is responding “very well” but the recovery will be long and the player will need to concentrate on the process, Lasmar told a press conference at the Brazilian team’s training center in Teresopolis.
“We need him to focus on his recovery. “He showed from the very beginning that he follows what we offer,” the doctor said.
Lasmar, who is in charge of the surgery, said it was not yet possible to set a deadline for the Saudi Arabian Al-Hilal player’s return to the playing field.
Neymar signed for the Saudi League in August for €90 million, but the former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain man played just five games for Al Hilal due to muscle injuries.
Without a striker, Brazil will face Colombia and Argentina in their next qualifiers this month. The Brazilian national team is in third place after Uruguay and Argentina. (Reuters).
