Van Duijvenbode eliminated from Grand Slam of Darts after dramatic night for Netherlands

Dirk van Duijvenbode has been eliminated from the Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton. Van Duijvenbode, who lost 5-1 to Luke Humphries in the last group match, finished his group in third place. This is not enough to continue.

Van Duijvenbode, who had previously suffered a shoulder injury, narrowly lost to Gary Anderson and won against Steve Lennon. If he won, he was guaranteed to advance to the knockout stage, but this was not possible. Humphries was much more consistent and only allowed one leg to the Dutchman.

Price is on track

Gian van Veen and Berry van Peer were on the verge of elimination before their final group matches. Van van Veen was also not present for the final group match against Gerwyn Price. The Dutchman didn’t shoot too badly, but Price averaged more than 112 points.

The fifth-ranked Welsh player, who has won the tournament three times, won 5-1 against the Dutch talent, giving Van Veen his third defeat in a row. Van Veen therefore ended without a win.

Van Peer laughs

Van Peer also finished the tournament without a win. Josh Rock was 5-1 too strong for the Dutchman, who did not feature at all in the first four matches. Van Peer was constantly chatting to the audience and laughing with darts fans about his own poor results.

Rock briefly allowed the upset to build and missed four match darts with the score at 4:1. The fifth was a direct hit and the tournament was over for Van Peer.

The other Dutch will take action on Tuesday. Martijn Kleermaker has already been eliminated; He plays against Michael van Gerwen, who is guaranteed to advance to the next round. Danny Noppert has won his first two matches and is heading towards winning the group. He plays against Brendan Dolan.
