Neymay is “doing very well”, but there is no date on when he will return to the field

Striker Neymar is recovering well from knee surgery he underwent after sustaining an injury during a match in Brazil last month, but there is still no prediction when he will be able to return to the pitch, team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar said on Monday.

Neymar suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his left knee during Brazil’s defeat to Uruguay in the South American World Cup qualifier and underwent surgery on 2 November.

The striker is responding “very well”, but the recovery will take a long time and the player must concentrate on the process, Lasmar said at a press conference at the Brazilian team’s training center in Teresópolis.

“We need him to focus on his recovery. “He showed from the first moment that he followed our suggestions,” said the doctor.

Lasmar, responsible for the surgical procedure, said that it was not yet possible to set a deadline for the return of the Saudi Al-Hilal player to the field.

Neymar signed for the Saudi league for €90 million in August, but the former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain player played just five games for Al-Hilal as he suffered muscle injuries.

Without the striker, Brazil will face Colombia and Argentina in their next qualifying matches this month. The Brazilian team is in third place, behind Uruguay and Argentina. (Reuters).
