A business owner has thanked Wrexham AFC celebrity owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds for donating thousands of pounds after his shop was robbed. Stephen Tapp, owner of Wrexham Trainer Revival, was surprised to learn the pair had donated £3,500 after robbing a sportswear store in the town at the end of October, BBC News Wales reports.

Now the store owner wants to thank Hollywood celebrities for saving his business. After hearing about his donation, Mr Tapp said: “It was incredible – they literally had to lift me off the floor.

“One of the biggest actors in Hollywood donated money to my little shop, it’s ridiculous. We were almost done with the online donation page and then they doubled the amount I had already received, bringing it to £7,000.’

Tapp had just celebrated the first month of his store’s new location when he discovered the theft on October 28th. Speaking to the BBC, the businessman explained that he was “about to pack his bags” after the incident. He also added that the donation page was launched by an American couple.

He said: “After spending so much time talking to the police, my head wasn’t very right. I was very close to packing everything up and selling it all on eBay. The support I received from everyone was incredible. He added: “The donation page was set up by an American couple I only met once. The money covered all my expenses and kept the business running. “On Sunday, after tea, with the amount of messages I received on social media, I couldn’t give up.”

The businessman also explained that his son met Rob McElhenney after Wrexham’s victory over Gillingham on Saturday. According to Tapp during the meeting, the “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” actor knew him and called him “Coach.” In response, Tapp said, “I had no idea they knew I existed, so I was surprised. You are welcome to the store at any time. There will be some free t-shirts for them, that’s for sure. “.

It turns out that a third series of Welcome to Wrexham has been officially confirmed. The announcement comes ahead of the second series finale, which is due to air on Hulu and Disney+ in the UK on Wednesday, with the football club facing “either promotion or the dreaded play-offs”.
