Reno called up by Zimbabwe
Cardiff midfielder Andy Rinomhota will finally make his Zimbabwe debut after being called up to the national team for the first time in his career.
The 26-year-old was born in Leeds, but can represent the African country through his father. He had previously been contacted by the Zimbabwe FA with an offer to play for them, but was injured at the time and never made a professional appearance.giving up what was previously attributed to the country.
Last year he said: “When they called me, I was injured. Since then, the issue of applying for a Zimbabwean passport has arisen. I haven’t gone through the process yet, but it’s something I’ll look into.
“AFCON is a great platform to showcase your skills. It’s another experience and another aspect of my game that I could add: gaining international experience. I haven’t looked into it too much, but I think I’ll have to get a Zimbabwean passport.
Now she will have the chance to do just that, and in the process, she could face fellow Bluebird Jamilah Collins. Zimbabwe will face Rwanda in their first match before facing Nigeria on November 19 in a World Cup qualifier.
Baby Ramsey Officially Enters the Gym
Aaron Ramsey’s son Sonny has officially joined the Bluebirds academy.
Sonny signed a pre-contract, so to speak, with the Cardiff academy in the summer, on the same day his father joined the club. The contract would go into effect when Sonny turned eight, and today is that day.
On Instagram, Bluebirds star Ramsey made a birthday post for Sonny along with a photo of them together. In the summer, the Wales captain spoke about how special it was to return to his boyhood club, as his son signed on the same day.
“It was amazing,” he said in July. “What an unforgettable day for both of us. Seeing him sign his first contract was very special. It brought back a lot of memories of when I started out like this.
“It’s great to see. Obviously going through this academy and progressing like me. “Seeing my son take that first step is a proud moment.”
And now it’s official, Sonny is a bona fide member of the Bluebirds academy.
Fry with an ax
Ross County have sacked former Bluebirds manager Mulky McKay after a poor start to the season left them bottom of the Scottish Championship.
Mackay impressed in his first season in charge of Dingwall but needed a dramatic play-off final against Partick Thistle to retain his place last season. The club were grateful for the “historic” comeback but felt a change was necessary after a run of eight winless league games which left them 10 points ahead of Livingstone on goal difference alone.
A statement from Ross County read: “Ross County Football Club can today announce that it has parted ways with manager Mulky McKay. Mulkey joined the club in the summer of 2021 and has enjoyed great success, leading the team to a top six finish and winning the Manager of the Year award in his first season.
“His determination and drive to succeed helped save Ross County from relegation at the end of the 2022/23 season with a historic penalty shootout victory against Partick Thistle in Dingwall. But following a meeting between Mulkey, chairman Roy McGregor and chief executive Stephen Ferguson, the club decided change was necessary now.”
Cordina wants to fight with CCS
Big Bluebirds fan Joe Cordina wants his next fight to take place at the Cardiff City Stadium.
The 31-year-old successfully defended his IBF featherweight title against Edward Vazquez in Monte Carlo and said he is ready to face WBA featherweight champion Lee Wood. However, WBO champion Emanuel Navarrete and WBC belt holder O’Shakey Foster are also included in the lineup.
Speaking about the location of his next fight, he told the BBC: “That would be surprising. When I started boxing, the first thing I wanted to do was fight at Millennium. [Principality] Stadium – why [Joe] Calzaghe boxed there, but fighting at home with the team I support, what more do you want?
“If I don’t do it before I retire, it’s going to kill me, but I’m going to keep pushing until we get there. I still have a lot of fans, but with Cardiff City Stadium I’m going to need the right dance partner and Lee Wood is the right dance partner for that.
