American Tiger Woods, who officially appeared again at the recent Masters in Augusta, has signed up to participate in the United States Golf Open, the organization reports on social media.
Woods, three-time champion of the tournament, has formalized his registration before the deadline -Wednesday. The third Grand Slam of 2022 will be played June 16-19 at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts, where the former world number one competed with the US team that won the Ryder Cup in 1999.
However, this formalism only leaves open the option that it can compete. It is not a guarantee that you will play safely.
Tiger Woods returned to action last week to mark the Masters, the first major of the season, with 301 strokes, 13 over par at the Augusta National. It was the big draw, save for Scottie Scheffler’s win. He got off to a good start on Thursday (71, -1), managed to make the cut and eventually showed signs of exertion. He had been out of competition since February 2021, following a very serious road accident in which he nearly lost a leg.
That same Sunday, he announced his intention to play the fourth major of the season, the British Open, to be played on the Scottish site of Saint Andrews between 14 and 17 June.
