“Luis is a phenomenon, crack, if he has to dissolve, he dissolves”: Carrascal

Jorge Carrascal is smiling from ear to ear. The man from Cartagena is proud and happy with the Colombian team’s 2-1 victory over Brazil, at the Roberto Meléndez Metropolitan Stadium, on the fifth day of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Amid his happiness and usual self-confidence, Carrascal refers to the extraordinary performance of Luis Díaz, author of the two goals for ‘la Amarilla’ in the historic victory against the world champions, the first in all World Cup qualifiers.

“That man is a phenomenon, he is a crack, everyone already knows that if he has to dissolve, he will dissolve. He is always prepared, he always tries,” the Bolivarian said of Guajiro.

The Dinamo Moscow midfielder acknowledged that Díaz’s excellent performance and the victory against ‘la Canarinha’ are a relief for the Liverpool winger and for the entire national team.

“Yes, for everyone. The truth is that it is a very difficult moment. Today we realized that this monster cannot suffer. Today he showed it,” Carrascal said.

The 25-year-old midfielder greeted his compatriots in the middle of his statements in the mixed zone.

“The people of Cartagena are happy, they have always given me their support. This victory is for them too. Now I am the only representative that Cartagena has. The truth is that it is very good to be on the field and enjoy this moment,” he said.
