Simpson was “very lucky” to get the minimum ban
Former FA Racial Equality Advisory Board chairman Yunus Lunat believes Jack Simpson was lucky to receive only a minimal match suspension after admitting he made a sickening racist insult to former team-mate Rohan Luthra.
The defender, who was sacked by Cardiff in August, was banned for six matches and fined £8,000 after a report revealed he had racially abused Loutra, 21, during the club’s pre-season trip to Portugal . You can read all the shocking details here.
In its report, the Regulatory Commission took into account factors such as Simpson’s admission, his apology and expression of remorse, his seeking professional support and his previous disciplinary history and character, as well as the termination of his contract with the Cardiff. However, even taking the above considerations into account, Lunat told Sky Sports: “Jack Simpson was very lucky to get the minimum match suspension.
“Rohan Luthra is one of the best role models for South Asians in English football. Saying these words in a safe environment and in the company of your own teammates can only deter young players of South Asian origin.”
Release statement
Anti-discrimination sports charity Kick It Out issued a statement saying there was “no place for racist insults” following Simpson’s allegation.
Tony Burnett, chief executive of Kick It Out, told Sky Sports: “Kick It Out recognizes the allegations made against Jack Simpson. There is no place for racist insults between teammates or anywhere in the game, and it is comforting to know that the individual is responsible for their actions. Our first thought when discrimination occurs is always with the victim and we applaud the victim’s courage in this case for coming forward.
“In this situation, as in all cases of discriminatory violence, there can be no winners and we hope that the perpetrator has learned from this incident and has ensured it does not happen again. Education plays an important role in changing attitudes and it is encouraging to see the FA providing individualized training as part of sanctions. From our work in this space, we know the impact this can have on changing mindsets.. “We urge anyone who has experienced or witnessed abuse to report it to us on Kick It Out.”
However, Luthra’s father, Dr. Sunny Luthra, was disappointed with the lack of contact with the organization following the incident. Keep writing x: “Tick” exercise. well done. “That’s a sarcastic comment, if you haven’t noticed yet.” He added: “I mean, no contact with @kickitout. A senseless reaction to the situation for which they actually exist.”
Dr Luthra told Sky Sports at the time: “Racism is unacceptable in any form and anywhere, especially in football. I hope the player learns from this and that it serves as a deterrent to this type of unacceptable behavior.”
Former West Brom star spoke about Grant’s future
Former West Bromwich Albion midfielder Carlton Palmer believes Carlan Grant is likely to return to the Hawthorns and Carlos Corberan’s side.
The winger has been a regular for Cardiff on the left wing under Errol Bulut but has recently received no contact from his parent club after moving to the Welsh capital on loan this summer.
Corberan recently said he would take stock at the end of the season and assess Grant’s performance and progress, but Palmer believes there is every chance that, with greater investment in the Baggies, the Midlands club will welcome him back and spend money on which means high championship salaries.
“Corberán said that Carlan Grant, who left West Brom on loan at Cardiff in the summer, could return at some point,” said Palmer. “I think a lot of people were surprised when Karlan went out on loan in the summer, but I think it was more to do with his wages and the cost-cutting done by West Brom than Corberan,” said Palmer, who played for West Bromwich Albion. between 1984 and 1989, the World Football League said.
“Corberán likes versatile players and Carlan was Albion’s top scorer in 2021/22 with 18 goals. He is one of those players who can play in any attacking position.
“With rumors of a takeover imminent and West Brom currently seventh in the Championship, level on points with the play-off places, if Corberan is allowed to bring in players in the January transfer window he could well bring back a starter in the championship. and you should seek only his salary, not a fee.
“Grant still has two years left on his contract unless he is called up in January, so there is a good chance he will return to his home club sooner rather than later.”
Rinomhota will debut in the match against Nigeria Collins
Andy Rinomhota made his international debut this afternoon, starting in Zimbabwe’s 1-1 draw against Nigeria’s Jamilu Collins.

Collins started the match on the Super Eagles’ bench and was substituted in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, Rinomhota was sent off three minutes earlier. The match ended with a score of 1-1.

Alex Rúnar Rúnarsson was on the bench during Iceland’s 3-2 defeat to Slovakia on 16 November. He hopes to be called up for tonight’s Euro qualifier against Portugal.
