Haaland pays former club’s fans train tickets for promotion match

Norwegian super striker Erling Haaland addresses the fans of his former club in Norway. According to Norwegian broadcaster TV2, the Manchester City attacker will pay the train tickets for around 200 fans who want to go to Norway’s Bryne FK’s play-off match against IK Start this Saturday.

This is a special game for Bryne, the club where Haaland played as a youth player and eventually rose to the first team. The club is in the play-off final for the first time since 2006 and has the chance to be promoted to the next league.

The Norwegian television channel calculated that 200 train tickets to Kristiansand cost around 175,000 Norwegian kroner. This means approximately 15,000 euros.

“We can’t say anything other than that it’s great that we have the opportunity to send as many fans as possible to Kristiansand. These are tough times for people financially, which makes it difficult for people to prioritize traveling to a game like this,” says Bryne FK’s marketing manager.

And the spokesperson of the “B-gjängen” fan club is also very happy with Haaland’s support. “It’s nice that Erling wants to sponsor a trip for Bryne fans, which all of Bryne really appreciate.”

Norwegian club Bryne FK could really use a boost. This club last played at the top level in 2003.
