With this new reserve position, Pato will take part in the first free practice this weekend at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prixin addition to post-season testing, following their completion as part of the historic British team’s driver development programme.

For his part, the Mexican added: “I am delighted to take on this new role within the McLaren Racing family.. I spent a lot of time with the Formula 1 team, previously competing in free practice and taking part in some testing.
